If you are in range of Atlanta on Nov. 6, I am honored to be with SAIS for their monthly Lunch and Learn from 11:30-1:30. According to regional director Holly Chesser spaces are filling up quickly, so contact her to reserve a spot. I will give a summary of my journey to date and then lead a discussion of some of the main take aways. This region is packed with some of the best and most innovative educators I know, so come and meet, talk, get to know them!
Also, there is still time to register for the NBOA Strategic Leadership Forum in Chicago on Nov 4-6; go to the NBOA website for details, Attendees include Heads, CFO’s, and a range of other school leaders. I will kick it off with the keynote and there will be a great array of other speakers and panelists focusing on change at schools, how to accomplish change, and examples of major change dynamics.
Help your colleagues: If you have learned anything from the schools I have visited, great! Forward the link to 1-2 colleagues who also would be interested. I don’t get any $$ for blog views; this is just great PD and a way to share what I am learning. Connections lead to ideas which lead to thinking which leads to innovation. Thanks to you, we have had more than 13,000 points of sharing via blog views since I left San Diego!
I am off this weekend to do a two-hour facilitation with business leaders of the ISASW (southwest region of NAIS). This will be a new format where we leverage the brain power in the room to “work the problem” rather than sit and listen. Hopefully this is the direction all conferences will take; it is what we are modeling for our students and we know people learn better when they are actively out of their seats and working.
